I'll start this thread off. My name is Missy and i run the hugely popular blog called Groovy Vegetarian. Ok i might be stretching it a tad by calling it huge. LoL. I started the blog back in July 2007 and i cover all sorts of things within the veg lifestyle on it. New readers always always welcome.

I'm from Chicago (and i like to call myself) a freelance writer. Oh aside from a few other blogs i own, i also write daily on green blog Keetsa and i dabble in net marketing.

My joys in life revolve around outdoor pursuits, everything from walking biking hanging out at the the beach to tennis. I tend to spend loads of time online.......so physical activities is where its at for me. I also love a mean game of Sorry and i can dance all night long in the right club. Salsa anyone?

Do tell me about your hobbies or interests.

Hi, I'm Em and I like the idea of having other 'noob' vegetarians to talk with, as most 'established' vegies tend to look down on the noobs, which is odd.

I've been slowly cutting meat out this year, after being diagnosed with an iron overload disorder. I just spent 10 days in Vietnam eating full vegetarian, and came home deciding to continue - no time like the present, or so they say lol

So, although it's partly health reasons, it's also part ethical reasons.

Umm, thats all ;)

Iron overload disorder? Wow. Have never heard of this. Was it acquired through eating too much meat, or how? By the way nice to meet you, Em.

Nope, it's a genetic disorder called haemochromatosis. Just means the transition to vegetarian was a natural one, considering I don't need to eat iron, and can't take iron supplements/multi-vitamins. Kind of the opposite problem to what most veg*ns face I guess!

I (Googled it) and now know abit more about iron overload. Interesting disorder. Well not to make it sound like it's a good thing or anything. I simply mean its quite unique.

Are you told to stay away from (iron rich foods) such as Spinach?
